Week of March 30

A Week Away!  I hope you have enjoyed your week with some extra family time!  Sometimes it is nice to have a change of pace and explore different opportunities.  Hopefully your week away from school didn’t mean a week away for Jesus!  Have Him as a constant part of your life each day is so important even in the change of pace.

  • March Madness:  Please join us on Friday night, April 4th for some family fun for all.  The event is in the gym starting at 6 pm.
  • World of Discovery Fair:  All students will have projects on display in the Family Life Center throughout the weekend.  Be sure to stop by and check them all out between services.  Don't worry, your child has been working on their project in school.  No outside of school work required for 3rd grade.
  • Reading: This week, we will begin our last formal reading unit which is Unit 5 – Solutions. Students will explore text features in an informational text.
  • Writing: Back to informative writing.  In conjunction with Science, students will be researching and writing an informational text regarding a specific animal.  The final product will be a research paper.
  • Math: This week we will go back to Unit 9 – Use Multiplication to Divide. Lessons explored this week include using multiplication to divide, divide by 2, 5, 10, and understanding division with 1 and 0.  Knowing multiplication tables will be super helpful in this upcoming unit.  Regular refreshers will be super helpful.
  • Spelling: Each week we seek to build on what was learned previously through some reviewing.  This week the words with have au, aw, al, augh, and ough in them.  While memorizing these words is good, practicing the rule is important as well.
  • Religion: This week we get to head to the New Testament and explore parts of Jesus’ ministry with the selections including Jesus’ baptism, the wedding at Cana, and Jesus with Nicodemus.
  • Memory Work: As we follow our weekly routine, Tuesday’s memory has us working to memorize part one of Luther’s Evening Prayer.  Thursday will be Colossians 3:12 as it correlates with our new Friendzy unit.
  • Character Development: Unit 7 – Sort It Out.  This unit will help us determine when it is good to work through conflict and when it may be best to just let it go.
  • Weekly Quote:  For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace. – Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
