For the Week of November 10

For the Week of November 3

Dear Families,

Our first week of November has been unusually warm still.  We had a magnificent week, especially with the excitement of Veteran's day chapel.  These students are rocking it!!

Religion/Friendzy Math Reading Writing/Spelling

This past week: We learned...Joseph and his brothers and Joseph going to Egypt as a slave.

Friendzy Theme: November- Stress Less- Breathe Easy

This past week: We learned more about patterns with multiplying 0, 1, 2,5, and 10.  Knowing the patterns, helps with doing their multiplying.

This past week: We will explore Week 4, which is about persuasive texts.

This past week: We began to explore problems and solutions for story plots. We worked on prepositions as well.

Spelling: Wk 2.4- Words with Syllable Patterns

Next Week: We see how God continues to bless Joseph in many ways!  God blesses us, too!

Friendzy: November- Stress Less- Breathe Easy

Next Week: We will wrap up our Unit 4 with the test on Wednesday.

We have begun our Multiplication Ninja quest.  It is important that the little mathematicians practice their Multiplication Facts at home.  You can use videos like skip counting on Have Fun Teaching youtube channel.  Otherwise, I would suggest getting flashcards.  We will begin with 0 and work our way up.

Next Week: We will read an Informational Text about Animal Habitats.

Next Week: We work on our narrative plot and focus on subject/verb agreement.

Spelling: 2.5 Contractions

(words are listed below)

Social Studies

We ended our week by taking a look at how Presidential elections work.  Students have a sheet that may need parent help.  They are to color a map of the United States by who wins that state’s Electoral College votes.  Please help them if they ask! On Friday, students will have an opportunity to work through the study guide for the Asia test which is scheduled to be Wednesday, November 13th.  I don’t believe there will be time to review for correct answers.  If studying over the weekend, please make sure to consult with the blue “Activity Book” folder which should have the answers needed.  In the week to come, students will talk about Veteran’s day as well as finish up our Asian adventure.

Science

Third grade Scientists completed the test and the House Designs for the Unit on Weather.  The work was very impressive.

Now we move into a short unit on Climate.
