6th Grade Weekly Update - January 19th-25th

VIRTUAL DAY MONDAY - Middle school will have things to do Monday, but will not be in school.  Most things will be on Google Classroom or given to them on Friday in preparation for this event.

World of Discovery Fair - Selection Sheet is DUE on January 22nd.  Any questions feel free to ask.  I currently have 8 turned in and signed.

Student-Led Conferences - January 23rd at night and the  24th during the day.  The students will be preparing things to share and lead that conference.  Please bring your child with you.  There will be a sign up coming out soon for Thursday night or Friday during the day.

Health/Gym Classes - 6th Wellna will now be having gym with Mr. Wellna on Mondays and Thursdays every week.  They will have health with Mr. Fischer on Tuesdays and Fridays.  This will last the rest of the school year.

National Lutheran Schools Week - January 26th-31st

  • Monday - PJ Day
  • Tuesday - African Safari Day
  • Wednesday - Chapel Clothes Blackout
  • Thursday - Class Color Day (6th grade is going Patriotic Colors)

Writing

We will continue to work on our Argumentative essay outline. We will review how to write an engaging hook and thesis statement for an introduction paragraph, and then learn how to write a counterclaim paragraph.

Health

Math A

There will be a test this week sometime towards the end of the week.

Math B

PE

Please have your inside shoes, pe uniform shirt, and athletic shorts ready to go.  Also, be sure to review grading for Mr. Fischer's pe class which is available on my webpage links. 

Reading

This week, we will begin our Historical Fiction book clubs. Books will be handed out on Tuesday. There will be nightly reading homework and stop-and-jots to complete. The unit will end at the end of February.

Religion

This week we continue on with unit 4, Bounce Back, in Friendzy. We are also looking at the Bible stories of Jesus heals a blind man, Jesus heals ten men of leprosy, and Mary and Martha. Memory this week is Hebrews 13:5-6, ESV wording, and is due Thursday. Sermon note #3 is due Monday. 

Science

6th Science This week in 6th science we will be learning about Glacial and Wave Erosion.  No major tests or assignments due this week.

Social Studies

Africa projects will be due on Wednesday, January 22nd.  Then we will present them and start learning about Southern Africa.

Vocab

We will begin unit 4B this week.

Quarter Class

Computers October 21-25:  We are in our final week together.  This week we'll get into our final chapter of Excel - learning how to create charts and graphs from the data collected.  No quiz this week.  Need extra credit?  Tell me if you are happy or sad about no quiz through an email by Sunday 10 pm.

  •  INFO for ALL Gr. 7 & 8 PARENTS - ALL Grades 7 & 8 Students are in One-Act Plays on Friday, Nov. 1.  There will be performances in the FLC for the school (guests are welcome!) at 9am as well as that evening at 6:30pm.
