World of Discovery Fair

Information about the Word of Discovery Fair (WODF) was sent home.  Please look at the information.  The project will not be due until April and the Selection Sheet is due Jan. 22.  If you have any questions, please let me know.

Writing

  • Writing:  Our next unit will be a narrative, focusing on building setting and developing characters through the trait of ideas.
  • Patterns of Power:  We’ll build on our work with Introductory Clauses and then move into patterns for effectively using commas.

 This week we will cover: we will start Module 4 about negative and positive numbers and absolute values.

Reading

On our first day back, we will finish presenting our A Long Walk to Water Projects and view a TED Talk that takes us into the journey of one of the Lost Boys of Sudan. Then we’ll begin our next unit!

Religion

Science

6th Science This week in 6th science we will be starting Topic 5, Earth’s Surface Systems and going over Weathering and Soil.  No major tests or assignments due this week.

Social Studies

6th grade will have a map quiz on either Thursday or Friday on Northern African countries.

Quarter Class

Computer Dec. 16-20:  We start our second unit this week, studying Excel.  There will be quite a few notes on Monday.  We will get through the first chapter this week and our quiz is scheduled for Friday.
