Reading

  • Our next novel, Echo, uses music as its thread to connect Friedrich in Germany in 1932, Mike in Pennsylvania in 1935, and Ivy in California in 1942.  Each child faces challenges brought about by things truly out of their control, yet their lives intersect, revealing human triumph.  This week, we built background information for Part I, Friedrich's story.
  • Throughout the novel, we'll be working with building background knowledge to deepen the understanding of the incidents in the novel through brief research projects that focus on the Japanese Internment, the heart of philanthropy, and the circumstances of Mexican migrant workers.
