Jan 29-Feb 2, 2023 “Under Construction”
This week we wrapped up our two week unit on Dinosaurs. We spent the week learning more about different types of dinosaurs, their different sizes, and what they ate. We examined different dinosaur tracks and made colored patterns using dinosaurs. We also spent the week working on our letter D as well as revisiting other letters we’ve covered so far this year. During our Bible time, we learned about the miracles Jesus performed and about Jesus being tempted and saying no to sin.
Next week we will be learning about all things construction! We will learn about different types of construction vehicles, different kinds of tools that can be used in construction, and we will have lots of opportunities to build different structures. It’s going to be a very fun, hands on week for the students! Our Bible lessons will be focused on Nicodemus, hearing the story of Jesus and the woman at the well, and learning about Jesus healing a sick woman.
Thank you for taking time this week to meet with me and discuss your child’s progress. They have each achieved some great accomplishments this year and I look forward to their continued success!
Some of the students have been asking for more science experiments so on Thursday I sent home a sheet with some additional experiments you can try at home. These are optional and make for a fun rainy day or snow day activity.
Next week Friday, February 2nd, we will be celebrating our 100th day of school! The students have been counting to 100 days using a calendar in our classroom and they are excited to celebrate 100 days. We will spend the day doing some fun 100 days activities and will enjoy a special treat. On Monday I will be sending home a bag for a fun mystery bag surprise. Each student is asked to put 100 items in the mystery bag and on the outside of the bag, please help them write down 3 clues. We will try to use the clues on the outside of the bag to guess what’s inside. Some ideas on what to put in your child’s bag include buttons, cheerios, goldfish, beads, noodles, paper clips, etc.
We will be having our Valentine’s Day party on February 14th. Please have your child write their name on the sheet that was sent home so we know who the valentine is from. The PM class had their Valentine sheets sent home on Thursday and the AM class will have their sheet sent home on Monday. We will be making Valentine boxes to keep our Valentines in. For this project please send your child with one empty cereal box that they can use to create their Valentine box with. Please have this box sent in by February 5th. You can also be on the lookout for a sign up from your room parent with a list of items we are looking for to help make our party a success.
On February 16th we will be having our Day with Dudes. You should have received an invitation to this event this week. For this special day, your child can bring along a special dude to spend the day with them. This includes a Dad, grandpa, uncle, or any other special dude in their life. We will be rotating between different activities, have a snack, and end the day with chapel. Please have your RSVP form in by February 2nd.
On February 23rd we have a half day of school. On this day the AM class will not attend and instead, the PM class will attend from 8:15-10:45.
