Lots of fun activities were packed into our shortened school week. The story of Creation was our focus during Jesus Time this past week. Our story during Reading was, "Mary Wore a Red Dress". We also worked on skills like rhyming and letter recognition. Our class focused on the letters M, J, A, and D this past week. Each student participated in several writing activities to correspond with our story. During Math time we practiced writing numbers and counting. We were introduced to manipulatives including teddy bear counters and pattern blocks. Our Social Studies unit focused on families. During Chapel last Wednesday we learned about the work of the organization "Feed My Starving Children". Please continue to fill up the M&M container that your child brought home with quarters and return to the classroom or school office. If you need another container please let myself or Mr. Yurk know. Chapel offerings during the month of September will also go to help support the great work of this organization.
This week we will continue to review letters and their sounds. Our story will be based on the well known song "The Wheels on the Bus". Students will also be introduced to some new sight words. During "Jesus Time" we will continue to learn the story of Creation and mankind's fall into sin. In Science our focus will be on different types of Matter including solids, liquids, and gases. It is my hope that you're having a restful Labor Day weekend and enjoy the extra time off to spend with family and friends. Hope to see many of you at the PTFL potluck dinner on Thursday evening.
